If you are preparing to have a short holiday trip, a medical operation, or an official business trip to Australia, you can and must have an Electronic Travel Visa Authority (ETA) before you arrive. The ETA will permit you to wander around in Australia for three to six months and is legal for multiple entries up to a 12 month period.

***If you are a citizen of a country which was not mentioned above, you can still obtain a Tourist or BusinessVisitor's Visa by applying to an Australian Embassy or Consulate of your country.
Working Holiday Visas
For those who wish to travel and support their stay in Australia by obtaining temporary employment, the Working Holiday Visa is the best option. This is open for people aged 18 to 30 years old who are citizens of countries with reciprocal arrangement with Australia.
Who are eligible?At present, this arrangement is available for people aged 18-30 years old, whether single or married, just as long as without children. You must also be a citizen of any of the countries stated below:
United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Iran, Ireland, Korea, Malta, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Hong Kong, Finland, Cyprus, Belgium, Italy, France, Taiwan, Thailand, and Estonia. Just recently, Turkey has been added to the list of countries with reciprocal countries. Effective March 31, 2006, Chile is already included in the arrangement. And soon, Bangladesh will as well be a part of the agreement.
